After a home victory over Osasuna, it was important for the players of Gijon to keep up the momentum and continue in the same manner away from home against Sevilla B last weekend with they managed thanks to a goal from Garica in 31st minute.
It was a narrow 1:0 victory at should be said completely deserved, as the players of Gijon probably deserved more than one goal difference lead in the first halftime, but continued in a bit more relaxed way in second part, probably being satisfied with their lead and keeping their own net properly save during all ninety minutes.
Gijon is now at fifth position with fourty-six points earned, which is five points less than second placed Rayo Vallecano and with actually same number of points as seventh and out of play-off zone placed Osasuna, which makes this match very important for them.
Defensive midfielder Alex Bergantinos (24/1) is suspended, while midfielder Alex Lopez (5/0) remains more of a long term absentee with an injury.
Leonesa, on the other side, managed to get their first victory after four consecutive defeats, as the side overpowered Deportivo Reus 2:0 in front of own fans last Saturday afternoon.
It wasn’t that interesting match, actually far away from it, however the hosts have exploited the first halftime well, taking the double lead via an own goal in 25th and a goal from Garcia in 35th minute.
Visitors tried to reply in the second halftime, but except couple of chances and more of the ball possession, they weren’t able to do much. Thanks to this victory, Leonsa managed to keep the pace with safely placed sides, being now just point below safely placed Gimnastic on eighteenth position.
Central back Gianni Zuiverloon (21/0) is suspended due accumulation of yellow cards.
Gijon seems to be in a very good form now, at least making great effort to keep their sheet clean, while their offensive part of the team does the proper job as well. The side looked very steady at the moment and is simply close to a must win situation, this time against a side that is obviously far beyond their quality.
Leonesa might approach this match bit more openly, but neither so I see chances for them to stay undefeated here. Sporting should be able to get the victory they need, most likely with goal conceded.
