Troyes – Marseille

15th April 2018   ·   0 Comments

Troyes continued with really poor performances as the side suffered 4:0 defeat away to Guingamp last time out on previous Saturday evening. Their hosts were simply much better, looked far more interested into the match and moved the ball in superior way.

Home side took the lead in 23rd minute thanks to a goal from Benezet, while the guests had more of the ball possession since then but in pretty clueless way. Guingamp remained better in the second halftime, always being way concrete and threatening whenever they had the ball – confirming the victory with goals from Blas, N’Gbakoto and Briand.

This was seventh consecutive match without a victory for Troyes, as the side only got two points during these seven rounds. The team is now at eighteenth position with just a point less than safely placed Toulouse and surely aims to get something out of this one.

Home team can’t count at injured defensive midfielder Tristan Dingome (14/0), while midfielder Benjamin Nivet (20/0) also shouldn’t play due injury problems. Offensive midfielder Saif-Eddine Khaoui (31/5) is not playing here due loan terms with the opponents.

Marseille, on the other side, continued their Ligue 1 campaign with only a point taken in front of own fans last Sunday evening when the team welcomed Montpellier and stood in a goalless clash.

They were better actually, having much more of the ball possession, however chances weren’t as concrete as it should be in order to make the real difference. Surely that busy schedule in Europa League made the difference for this one, however the side now has three points less than third and Champions League placed Lyon so a victory here is their only target.

As for the Europa League, they managed to exploit Leipzig on Thursday evening with a 5:2 victory and surely now some rotation is probable for this one.

Goalkeeper Steve Mandanda (28/0) is out for the rest of the season due injury, with central back Adil Rami (30/1) also being out injured. Offensive midfielder Lucas Ocampos (26/8) is suspended.

  • Marseille have scored at least 2 goals in 5 of their last 6 away matches (Ligue 1).

I simply can’t see players of Troyes responding here in manner. Not against such a quality, in-form and offensive potent side like Marseille surely is this season. Guests should prevail, probably easier than what the odds suggest.
