Sassuolo – Benevento

15th April 2018   ·   0 Comments

Sassuolo were huge underdogs last Sunday evening, but the team still managed to fight well and snatch a point in a 1:1 away game against AC Milan. It was their third consecutive draw, but the side remains undefeated in last five matches and does look decently strong at the moment.

No doubt that the players of Milan looked far more organized and stronger, however guests stood well in the defense for the most of the clash and had some decent approaches via counter attacks. Pressure of Milan was slowly increasing, but the visitors managed to exploit their vulnerability in 75th minute with a goal from Politano.

However, home side managed to deservedly level up the score via Kalinic ten minutes later. Other than that, of course that the players from Milano deserved far more than just a point in that one. After this positive run, the team currently sits at fifteenth position with three points more than relegation worried Crotone and surely that a victory here remains their target.

Home side is set to play in 3-5-2 formation with Politano and Berrardi as forwards. Right back Pol Lirola (24/0) is missing the rest of the season due injury. Sidelined are also central back Edoardo Goldaniga (13/1) and midfielder Stefano Sensi (16/2).

Benevento gave a really good fight to Juventus last Saturday afternoon, but the team was unable to stop the opponents towards another victory in the end with a 2:4 result. Juventus was in between with two Champions League matches and just wanted to the job properly, but surely have expected much weaker hosts on that day.

Dybala brought them into the lead, while Diabate responded in the middle of the first however Dybala brought the lead to Juventus again from the penalty kick during added time of the first halftime. Hosts didn’t disappoint, far away from it, as they leveled up again via Diabate in 51st – but stood without energy towards the end.

Dybala scored another from penalty, while Costa sealed the victory in 82nd minute. After this defeat, Benevento is locked at the rock bottom position with only thirteen points – fourteen less than safely placed Spal – remaining with only theoretical chances to avoid relegation.

Guests should play in 4-3-3 formation with Djuricic, Diabate and Brignola as forwards. Central defender Fabio Lucioni (8/0) is suspended. Injured are central backs Andrea Costa (16/0), Luca Antei (8/0) and offensive midfielder Ledian Memushaj (17/0).

  • Benevento have conceded at least 2 goals in 10 of their last 12 matches (Serie A).

Even though Benevento fights well in recent weeks, it would be too much for them to get something here. Relegation is realistic for them and competitive motive stands with Sassuolo. Hosts are in a very positive momentum knowing that their schedule wasn’t easy at all and should be able to make a real statement here in their relegation battle.
