Greuther Furth – Regensburg

13th April 2018   ·   0 Comments

Gr Furth was set as quite an underdog in previous game away to Sandhausen last Friday afternoon but the side managed to keep their sheet clean and remain on the ground in a nice way taking a point.

The game itself wasn’t that interesting with Sandhausen being better however without that final approach in attack. As the time progressed hosts were better and better, however weren’t as concrete as supposed. Guests were obviously satisfied with a point and didn’t risk much towards the end.

Even though it wasn’t a victory it was a positive outcome for Furth, as the side now stands at fourteenth position having three points more than play-out placed Heidenheim. They are having five victories, two draws and only one defeat in last eight – showing clear improvement recently.

Furth will miss defender Caligiuri (28/3) but also forwards Hinds and Bolly who didn’t perform so far in the season anyway.

Just few weeks ago, Regensburg had a real chance of getting into the promotional race but the side now stands at fifth position with five points less than play-off placed Holstein Kiel.

With just one victory in last five rounds, it’s simple for them as the team couldn’t hope for more with such form. In the most recent game, the side managed to get a point away from home against relegating battlers from Kaiserslautern in a 1:1 draw last Sunday afternoon.

They took the lead first, in sixth minute via Saller and looked better in first halftime probably deserving to score second as well. However, as the time progressed they looked more and more passive and finally paid the price of it. Hosts leveled up in 73rd minute via Andersson and even had chances to revert the scoreline completely.

Away from home they have just three victories for now and it’s hard them to see getting back into the promotional race. Guests are set to play without defender Gimber (22/1) and forward Freis (5/0).

  • Last three mutual matches ended with over 2.5 goals.

Furth is looking generally fine at the moment and are doing especially impressive in front of own fans. Regensburg looked decent for the most of the season, however they are now slipping in form and shouldn’t stay competitive in the title race for too long.
