Doncaster – Bradford

19th March 2018   ·   0 Comments

League One action again from me in a game that will be played on Monday night at the Keepmoat Stadium, Doncaster. The game will kick off at 19:45 and will be played between Doncaster Rovers and Bradford City. Some would say a Yorkshire Derby (South vs West Yorkshire).

The home side is a team I’ve seen a lot of this season as me and my son often go to watch them when the Millers are away from home. I’ve seen enough of them this season to know that they will be safe from relegation this season. I can’t see Doncaster going down this year. Manager Darren Ferguson has done a good job in my opinion and he seems to get a good reaction from his players but they can be quite inconsistent at times.

Doncaster Rovers currently lie in 17th in the table, just 7 points away from tomorrows opponents Bradford. So Ferguson will know that this could be a huge win in-front of the home fans. Doncaster have won 10 games this season and have drawn 13 and lost 13 games. Their goal difference is -1 so pretty consistent.

Rovers head into the game again, with a very inconsistent form, their last 3 league games has seen 1 win, 1 draw and 1 loss. They beat Fleetwood at home, then lost to Rotherham away and drew with Southend away also. What stands out to me is that a lot of their draws have come at home against sides just above them.It seems that Doncaster try and set up not to lose at home, which often results in a draw. Their last 12 competitive games 12 games has seen them draw 7 times?!

Rovers manager has a solid squad to choose from tomorrow night with no major players out. Ferguson has spoke out this week too about getting the balance right and not to worry about other results, just focus on their own. This will also be the third time these sides have met this season as they also came up against each other in the cup.

One game has ended with a bradford win, the other as a Rovers win, this one i think will be pretty even. The away side make the short trip from Bradford to Doncaster on a cold Monday night for this televised game. Their will be extra pressure on both sides with it being in-front of the TV fans also.

Bradford head into the game in 11th in the table, not so long ago they were in the play off places, however, recent form has seen the drop very low for them! They are only 7 points away from a play off place, however, there is a further 4 teams in-front of Bradford and will be pushing for this also.

The Bantams haven’t won since their 2-1 victory over fleetwood back on New Years Day! Since then Bradford have managed 8 defeats and 2 draws! They really need to get back to what they were doing earlier on in the season.

I expect them to want to put in a performance here on TV vs a local side, however, I think deep down a point away from home would be ok. They do have games in hand over teams just above them so they can take this into account also. they do have quite a few homes games after this against opponents with very little to play for, so they could still do this. I think the game plan will be not to lose.

I don’t usually back a draw, however, I can’t see any other result here! I will be backing a draw here at a great price of 3.60 with Bet365. It won’t be the usual amounts I back but I think it’s worth £20/£25 at these odds. Good luck all.
